Bridges to Hope is committed to reducing the effects of poverty on individuals and families through access to essential food, and other programs that help empower our clients.
About This Cause
Our programming offers help to all who require our services. It's not a hand out - it's a hand up, helping Newfoundland families and individuals move forward in life. Our clients come from to us from all over the Northeast Avalon. They are our neighbors, co - workers, friends. Hunger is not always recognizable. That is why at Bridges to Hope, our motto is "Neighbors feeding Neighbors. Primarily, we are a Food Aid Center focused on food security. Our hampers include a fresh homemade loaf of bread, prepared daily by our volunteers in our community kitchen. Our hampers also include eggs, fresh fruit, and a variety of foods to ensure our clients are properly nourished. We also offer other programs that are essential to our clients, such as: We operate a community kitchen, in which we bake bread, make homemade soups/stews and offer programs, such as a Slow Cooker program for single parents. Our Education Program includes an annual "Bag to School" campaign which provides school bags filled with supplies to primary, elementary, high school and those returning for Adult Basic Education. In 2019, in partnership with VOCM Cares, we provided almost 360 school bags. Also, every year we do 350 Christmas Hampers to ensure our clients can provide a full dinner to their families, so that they can enjoy the holidays, without the worry of lack of food.
