About This Cause
The Canadian Adaptive Snowsports (CADS) Edmonton Zone offers programs in downhill skiing and snowboarding. Our programs are aimed at instructing individuals with physical, sensory and/or cognitive disabilities in the various adapted skiing techniques which include visually impaired skiing/snowboarding, 3 track skiing, 4 track skiing, and sit skiing. Adapted specialized ski/snowboard equipment may be used in some or all of the described techniques. Our volunteer instructors are trained in adaptive ski instruction as developed by the CADS national certifying body. We offer four programs for students – the Alpine program, the Snowboard program, the Advanced – Learn to Train program and School field trips. We usually have about 75 students that participate in the 6-8 week program at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort and usually have 40-50 requests for student field trips throughout the season.
