About This Cause
Under the Banyan Tree Centre is a registered charity in Ontario serving individuals with development challenges since 2003. Our clients come from diverse ethnic background living in the Greater Toronto Area and York Region. Our Centre provides day program, weekend respite services and personal goa directed services. Our day program is available to individuals over 21 years and it offers the followings activities: - Fine Motor & Creativity: Arts & Crafts - Daily Living: Weekly Cooking Club & Self Help Activities - Cognitive Development: Language & Math - Gross Motor & Active Living: Dance, Fitness & Gym - Pre-vocational: Job Venture – in collaboration with Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care & Hong Fook Mental Health Association - Social Communication: Social Group Weekend Respite Program: To provide relief for families during the weekend, UTBT Centre provides a respite program for individuals with special needs to attend events and activities in the community. They will gain the opportunity to share quality social time together and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. This program is available every Saturday from noon to 5pm. Personal Goal Directed Services offers individual program and social skill program. Individual Program: Individual Program: Provide one-on-one supports for individuals with Autism and other intellectually challenges. Each session lasts for 1 to 1.5 hour, minimum once per week and is individualized to the client's specific needs. Social Skills Program: A. Saturday Social Group for Early Learners (Age 5-10) This is small group for children with special needs to socialize, play and interact with their peers. We offer session: Every Saturday afternoon (1:00PM - 3:00PM) Ratio: Max. 1 to 2.5 B. Sunday Social Group for Teenagers (Age 14 & up) A respite program for young teenagers with special needs to develop social and life skills such as preparing meals, grocery shopping and field trips. They will gain the opportunity to share quality social time with their peers. We offer one to two sessions per month: Sunday (11:00AM - 5:00PM) Ratio: Max. 1 to 6
