Mission Statement
The Light Up Your Life Society is 100% volunteer-run (no paid positions within the Society). The Society has been in existence since 1992. To date in 2025 well over $2 Million has been raised with 96% of funds raised each year going to benefit the people in need in our own communities.
About This Cause
The Light Up Your Life Society raises funds throughout the year to support the needs of palliative/hospice and continuing care patients and families in the Tri-Community area of Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Parkland County. In particular, we are dedicated and honoured to support our Westview Health Centre Hospice which opened in July. 2014. Facilities MUST make applications for funding each year prior to the start of our annual campaign (Nov. 1-Dec 30). Requests are reviewed for approval by the LUYL Board of Directors, and if approved, funds will be dispersed to purchase the item(s) requested. Funds raised also support palliative volunteer training and the Hospice Garden at WestView Health Centre Continuing Care. Additional requests for funding are accepted throughout the year. Donations are also received throughout the year. Fundraising events such as a raffle and other initiatives also support the work of the Society.
