Mission Statement
We mobilize and inspire all underserved and disadvantaged young people with digital literacy, 21st-century skills and the self-confidence that will enable them to thrive in an inclusive digital economy.
About This Cause
An International non-profit organization, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) has always been a disruptor of conventional international development norms. For 20 years, DOT has believed in tech savvy youth as agents of creativity and sustained change in their communities. With its unique peer-to-peer model and following a hybrid participatory informal learning approach, DOT has inspired thousands of underserved and disadvantaged young people with digital literacy, 21st-century skills and the self-confidence and responsible attitudes that have enabled enabled them to both lead change in their communities and thrive in an inclusive digital economy. Where the development sector has been slow to embrace technology and been negligent in its respect of the energy, impatience and creativity of young people, DOT has turned the intersection of the potential of youth and the power of technology into a formidable force for grassroots change - that has reached over 3 million people in 25 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, North America and China. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, with locally-managed offices in Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the UK, we work in 25 countries as development innovators and catalysts. Our Vision: All underserved and disadvantaged young women and men realizing their potential in an inclusive digital economy. DOT is a registered non-profit corporation in Canada, with charitable status under the Canadian Revenue Agency, and has received Equivalency Determination as a 501(c)(3) organization
