Mission Statement

The Project Somos Children’s Village is an eco-sustainable community aiming to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala by providing quality education and healthy food to families in need.

About This Cause

As an education centre, the Village provides programming to children in the surrounding community who were falling through the cracks of the Guatemalan system. Project Somos further supports the children’s families by providing vocational training and opportunities to the mothers, as well as parenting classes in topics like nutrition and hygiene. We believe that healthy, educated children can help break the cycle of poverty for future generations in Guatemala. The Project Somos Children’s Village is being established by Compassion Fruit Society. Compassion Fruit is a Canadian non-profit charitable society founded in 2002 with a mission to engage in activities that: • educate and create public awareness of children and families living in poverty • assist in improving the life conditions of children and families living in poverty Currently, the Village has family homes and an organic farm within the small Kaqchikel community of Chivarabal in the Central Highlands of Guatemala.
