Mission Statement

CompuCorps has for over 20 years bridged the digital divide. We create opportunities with technology for youth at risk, people living with disabilities and for indigenous peoples to reduce the digital divide by providing opportunity with technology while helping the environment by charitable reuse of computers and diverting hazardous electronic waste away from landfill sites.

About This Cause

CREATING OPPORTUNITY WITH TECHNOLOGY CompuCorps accepts laptops for donation and hires people with disabilities and provides youth tech programs. TechYouth: CompuCorps gives low-income Aboriginal and immigrant youth practical paid work experience in an 8-week session led by a team of high-tech professionals. Youth dismantle and refurbish a laptop to take home while learning the full spectrum of basic computer skills, critical work ethics and the importance of being environmentally responsible citizens. TechMentor: Through skilled IT volunteers, we research the needs of non-profits and deliver affordable solutions that help them function more effectively and efficiently. Planned for discrete 40-hour timeframes, projects may include website or database creation, hardware and software installation and upgrades, consultation, training and project management. TechReuse: Rather than sending gently-used IT equipment to a landfill or overseas for recycling, CompuCorps aims to get the best out of each device by refurbishing and selling licensed and guaranteed systems through our retail store, thus helping to fund our charitable work.
