Mission Statement
Vision: Freedom’s Door inspires and empowers men that have been in active addiction to change their lives by client centered continuum of care, to bring hope healing and wholeness. Mission: Clients are offered the tools to transform their lives in a supportive living environment by pursuing personal, academic, and professional goals for the purpose of improving their quality of life. We strive to reflect the following core values in our organization: Love, Acceptance, Integrity, and Restoration. Mandate: Freedom’s Door is a non-profit addiction recovery home, operating since 2002, for men dedicated to helping individuals find freedom from substance use in a safe and secure environment. At Freedom’s Door, we know that substance disorder is treatable, and offer a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model with an additional 12-Step program offered within our housing facilities where individuals are provided help and support to transition back into community and everyday life. Freedom's Door has been meeting the growing needs of individuals wanting abstinence-based recovery programming and housing since 2002. Freedom’s Door Safe Housing Initiatives have evolved from a single apartment with ten participants to ten single-family homes, which now accommodate 105 individuals who are inspired and empowered to live free of addiction.
About This Cause
Freedom's Door Addiction Recovery Program was created and established in 2002 to meet the needs of Kelowna and the Okanagan valley, for men struggling with addiction and mental health issues. Freedom’s Door has the current capacity and experience, ability, and compassion necessary to support high acuity of people experiencing substance disorders to regain a self-sufficient lifestyle. Freedom’s Door is a not-for-profit organization established to support community efforts addressing fundamental gaps in housing, substance use and related services for high acuity individuals. Adhering and supporting the determinants of health while practicing from a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual model of wellness, Freedom’s Door support services provide a safe home environment, complimented with essential supportive staff to assist mainly vulnerable, high-risk men who have struggled with problematic substance use to gain/regain a healthier lifestyle. Freedom’s Door is known for providing valued and respected residential and skill building opportunities to our local disenfranchised population(s). Our commitment is to provide them a safe house environment, essential support, practical assistance, and programming (provided by dedicated employees and community partners) has prompted the evolution of an initially small society into a reliable and indispensable community service provider. Freedom’s Door is committed to every client who successful graduates our 90-day recovery program by offering clients the Next Steps and Community Care program with ongoing accommodation with an intentionality to encourage the client to be active in finding employment and housing. Our program has allowed clients to give back to the community through volunteering and has been enriched over the years to provide the clients with an opportunity to learn everyday skills, and to help them see that giving back is an important step in their personal recovery.
