Mission Statement
We tackle physical inactivity, school dropout and delinquency among youth, mainly those coming from underprivileged backgrounds. We use sports and outdoor challenges as tools of intervention. We also help young immigrants and refugees to adapt to their new culture.
About This Cause
Motivaction Jeunesse contributes to dropout prevention as well as fighting against sedentary lifestyles, in underprivileged neighborhoods of Quebec City. Our intervention programs are based on action, sports, personal commitment and perseverance. Running, cycling, climbing… every sport we teach is a learning opportunity. Through sports, we teach kids the notions of effort, perseverance and success. Our qualified educators act within the school walls and in the neighborhoods facilities. They offer a variety of extracurricular sports and activities inside the school in order to create a bond with our targeted participants. They also bring the kids out in the community by offering them outdoor activities and major outdoor events that highlight the potential of the kids. This leads them to live a new lifestyle focused on discipline and commitment. Participants develop healthy life habits, acquire solid values, improve their self-esteem and empower themselves. We also help young immigrants and refugees to adapt to their new culture, by mixing them with Canadians though sports and outdoor activities and by making them explore their new town and the services it offers. On a daily basis, our educators act as counselors and friends with these kids and teenagers who are often thrown in a new country and new culture and. Through discovery activities, we help them to slowly adapt, develop new interests and make friends. By accompanying them on a daily basis, by listening to them, and guiding them through tough choices, they can inspire kids to do more and do better. Kids learn all about perseverance, leadership, team building, companionship, and a build a stronger self-esteem. They are also more interested in school and less interested to dropout because we create a safe and fun environment in schools.
