Mission Statement
STEPS Forward was founded by families in 2001 to ensure that young adults with developmental disabilities have access to inclusive post-secondary education and are included as valued students in the same academic , extracurricular, and social opportunities available to any other student at their local colleges and universities of British Columbia.
About This Cause
STEPS Forward provides inclusion support to students with developmental disabilities so that they can access their local post-secondary educational institution in BC, and to be included in the same courses and programs of study, and in the same ways, as any other students on their campus completing a standard program of studies. This work is challenging assumptions about the place of people with developmental disabilities in education, community, and society-at-large.
