Founded in 1997, the Special Olympics Canada Foundation was created to financially support the strategic objectives of Special Olympics Canada. Our main goals are to: - Increase program participation of individuals with an intellectual disability - Increase recruitment of volunteers, including trained coaches - Ensure the financial integrity of the Special Olympics Canada movement for generations to come We firmly believe these individuals who have an intellectual disability can lead healthier and happier lives if they have the opportunity to participate in sports programs. Too often, many exceptional people who have an intellectual disability are unable to realize their skills, goals and dreams because they lack the opportunities that many of us take for granted. Together, with donors like you, we can create these opportunities and help these individuals get engaged in their own communities.
