About This Cause
Established in 1986, the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (H&R MFRC) is proud to be a part of a strong military family community. The H&R MFRC is a registered charity, governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of a minimum of 51 per cent military family members. The H&R MFRC supports Canadian military families and members, especially during times when postings and deployments bring challenges. The H&R MFRC has developed programs and services designed to support integration into new communities, and deployment readiness for families to ensure everyone is well prepared for whatever the CAF life sends their way. The Halifax & Region MFRC serves military families in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Shearwater, Central and Northern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton, with service sites in Halifax, Shearwater and Sydney, Cape Breton. OVERVIEW H&R MFRC provides a wide variety of programs and services to support military members and their families including: • Welcome and Community Orientation • Family, Child and Youth Programs • Adult & Community Programs • Second Language Services • Mental Health & Well Being Team • Deployment and Outreach • Employment and Education • Volunteer Development
