Mission Statement
Furry Friends Animal Shelter is committed to rescuing cats in need and finding them safe and loving homes. We are a no-kill shelter that cares for between 150 and 200 cats at any given time.
About This Cause
Furry Friends Animal Shelter receives cats from different sources: 1. owners needing to surrender their cat (for a variety of different reasons) 2. hoarding situations 3. other shelters that are kill shelters when an animal has reached its "stay" limit 4. people who abandon their cat(s) at our front door 5. strays brought in by people who have been unable to find the stray's owner 6. strays brought in through Feline Fix (a local TNR volunteer charity) that end up being "friendlies" Furry Friends finds good homes for our cats using a thorough application/interview process. Some of our cats go into partner stores that help given them more visibility. We are also very active posting our cats on our website and Facebook pages. We are active in the community, taking one of our cats into Seniors Homes as a therapy cat. Our current therapy cat makes weekly visits to three local Seniors Homes. We also offer students Community Service hours for their graduation requirement.
