About This Cause
Friends of Beaubears Island is a non-profit organization, meaning your contribution will be tax-deductible. The Friends of Beaubears Island has operated for 15 years. Our Education Program offers an educational experience to grade six students during the month of June. The purpose of the program is to educate our children on local history and allow them to discover their heritage. It is our hope that each year every grade six student in the Miramichi Basin will experience their local history first-hand. This experience is offered on a complimentary basis, on behalf of the Friends of Beaubears Island and our sponsors. The Friends of Beaubears Island Summer Student Program raises money in order to engage our students earlier in the season, in the month of June, to deliver the Education Program. It also allows the students to work longer and earn more money for their education expenses. We are certain that, should our funding goals be realized each year, school children will be educationally inspired, summer students will be appreciative of the extra work and patrons will benefit from their continued presence among what is already widely known as a troupe of excellent historical interpreters. The Friends of Beaubears operate four lines of business, i.e. four income streams: • Operation of Interpretive centre (admission and sales) • Tours (Beaubears Island and Wilsons Point) • Contributions and Grants (government and other non-profit organizations) • Donations and Memberships (general public, businesses) As a nonprofit, we always wish to offer more programming when financially feasible at low cost and for events, low rates, and FREE when possible, so all can participate. We rely greatly on the generosity of others to help make this happen. We all partner with other organizations to help each other.
