Mission Statement

The Toronto Public Library Foundation’s mission is to inspire generous people who care about our city to amplify Toronto Public Library’s important work to build success, resilience and well-being for all of us.

About This Cause

The Toronto Public Library Foundation is a fundraising organization that enhances the Toronto Public Library’s aspiration to be the world’s leading library. TPL is the biggest and busiest public library system in the world, with 100 branches across the city and over 1.2 million registered library card holders, the Library makes our city, and its residents, more resilient, knowledgeable, connected and successful. Since its inception in 1997, the Toronto Public Library Foundation has raised over $117 million thanks to generous donors, partners and volunteers. Donations have a resounding impact on the 81% of Torontonians who use the Library’s vast programs, services, collections and community spaces. Libraries are so much more than books, and unique donor-funded initiatives include; after school clubs for kids, resources for neuro-divergent children, social wellness programs for teens, digital literacy classes for seniors, support services for newcomers to Canada, and so much more! These efforts would not be possible without the generosity and steadfast commitment of our growing donor community who believe in the work of Toronto Public Library.
