Mission Statement
Scotsburn Recreation Club is set in a rural community in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. We provide our community with a wide variety of programming and events that focus on physical activity, health and well being for the benefit of our citizens (of all ages and abilities) and local economy. We own, operate and maintain a large outdoor recreation facility and and community hall.
About This Cause
On a volunteer or non – profit basis the objects of the Society are: a. To operate and maintain the John P. Gammon Recreation Center and recreational facilities, such as the ball field, tennis courts, playground, and canteen, for the purpose of offering programs and community activities. To provide the residents of Scotsburn and surrounding areas an opportunity to improve their health and wellness at a reasonable cost while participating in events that will also help to develop the economic and community strength of the region. b. To facilitate programming and events for the benefit of the all citizens of Scotsburn and surrounding areas, regardless of age, ability or skill. c. To offer the use of the facilities to community members for other programming not run by Scotsburn Recreation Society for health and wellness of the residents of Scotsburn and surrounding areas. To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, device or otherwise, real and personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the objects of the society. To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and covey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects of the society. Provided that: • The society shall not carry out any trade, business, or industry; • All funds shall be used solely for the purposes the society and promotion of its objects. Upon dissolution of the society and after payment of all debts and liabilities, its remaining property shall be distributed or disposed of to: Non-profit organization in Canada having objects similar to those of the society.
