Mission Statement

In order to save lives in the RMWB, the Society will respond whenever necessary to incidents requiring qualified, self-sufficient and properly equipped Search and Rescue volunteers, who will operate in a safe and professional manner, at the request of the Society’s Tasking Agencies.

About This Cause

The Society will provide Search and Rescue services for overdue, lost, injured, or stranded persons, evidence searches, and civil emergency response in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB). The society will accomplish this: • By providing qualified Search and Rescue volunteers in sufficient numbers when tasked by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) or other Tasking Agencies. • By providing, operating, and maintaining the appropriate equipment for the task. • By arriving on scene fully operational and self-sufficient for the operational period of the Search and Rescue task. • By operating professionally, with safety, and respecting the dignity of others in conducting Search and Rescue operations. • By reducing the number and impact of Search and Rescue incidents by providing Preventive Search and Rescue (PSAR) education to the public.
