Mission Statement: The Bikur Cholim Ladies Association is devoted to human wellness and is dedicated to serving all members of the Jewish community in and around Montreal, through a variety of services. BCLA provides assistance to improve the health and well-being of the ill, the elderly, those with mental illness, the homebound and their families, alleviating the peripheral burdens of adversity that devolve upon these families during crises, thereby strengthening the fabric of life in our Community, our City, and our Country. Bikur Cholim Ladies Association is recognized by the government as non-profit organization
About This Cause
History: The Bikur Cholim Ladies Association was established 33 years ago by two individuals, with the purpose of bringing comfort and easing the anxiety and pain of those going through a crisis. What was once a small fledgling group of volunteers has evolved into the multifaceted organization that it is today. BCLA has expanded to meet the countless needs of our growing Montreal community. BCLA, which started as a two-man operation out of a dining room and kitchen table, has catapulted into a multidimensional operation with a staff of 25 coordinators and hundreds of volunteers, who strive relentlessly to ease the often overwhelming burdens suffered by the patients and their families in difficult times. Over the last three decades, the organization has metamorphosed into a comprehensive provider of a full range of social and supportive health services to families in the community who are in crisis or facing financial, health, or other medical challenges.
