Mission Statement
Seeds of Hope Children's Ministry exists to equip children and those in need, to love and serve Jesus Christ, while becoming healthy, educated responsible members of society. Our Vision: Seeds of Hope relies on generous involvement from people like you, who are able to support the ministry through gifts of time, money, prayer, and gifts in kind. Seeds of Hope Children’s Ministry™ started in 1995 after hearing about the plight of children orphaned because of AIDS. In 1996 Seeds of Hope Children’s Ministry™ opened the first home for HIV/AIDS infected children in Thailand. Since that time, we have been involved in bringing relief to children in several countries. Our biggest project is in Ndola, Zambia. Vision: To Raise Godly Leaders Through Education and Opportunity Mission: To Care for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Moto: Faith, Integrity, Knowledge, Courage Seeds of Hope Children's Ministry receives no government funding. Seeds of Hope Children's Ministry relies 100% on donations to operate.
About This Cause
At Seeds of Hope, we focus on supporting and bettering each child in order to grow leaders for change in their communities. By investing in each individual child, we can help them move onto greater things, such as trade school, college, university, and good jobs. With your generous support, we can provide excellent medical care and antiretroviral therapy (ARV’s) for all HIV positive children in our care in Africa and Asia. Our goal is to not only save the lives of children by caring for them but also to give them and their communities sustainable hope through the programs we provide. Zambia is a country devastated by AIDS and poverty. Unemployment is rampant leaving 86% of the population living below the poverty line. The plight of women and children is especially heart wrenching. The numbered of orphaned children is staggering and, without parents, children are left to raise their siblings. Buseko Children’s Home Located in the middle of Grace Academy, about 20 minutes outside Ndola, Buseko Home (pronounced bu say ko, meaning house of joy) houses the children in our care who are under the age of 6. Strategically placed at the heart of our complex, Buseko has its own fully stocked medical room, kitchen, living room, washrooms and sleeping rooms: This way, we can keep a schedule more suitable for our littlest ones while allowing them to abundantly enjoy the care and fervor of our older children who play an integral part of their lives. Buseko Home has a high caregiver/child ratio and its own designated dorm mums who work on rotation and the children regularly visit the doctor to ensure they are healthy. Our vision is to raise the children in a family atmosphere and not in an institution. All our children are HIV/AIDS infected or affected. Most have lost both parents to the disease. Many of the children, when first admitted are suffering from severe malnutrition and the full-blown effects of HIV/AIDS, often combined with tuberculosis. They are also heavily burdened with grief and other emotional wounds. At Buseko Home, we have a high caregiver/child ratio, and our Home is staffed 24 hours a day. Within a brief time of coming to Buseko Home, most of the children respond favourably to the good nutrition and medical care (including ARV therapy) given. Soon they start feeling healthy and strong and are thriving under the loving warmth of our caregivers. Buseko Home is truly a house of joy! Once the children reach six years of age, they are transferred to Grace Academy. They remain onsite but move to dorms which have dorm parents and up to 8 children. Grace Academy is a Boarding School and home to over 170 orphaned children. We are also admitting orphan children from the community as day students. Grace Academy, also known as a “Place of Grace” is children are given a loving home, medical care, and good nutrition. At Grace Academy we strive to break the cycle of poverty for our children by providing a high level of education and a mentoring program. Our vision is to raise children to be the future leaders of their country and to impact their nation with the grace and love of Christ which they have also received. We believe the way to do this is through education and opportunity. ‘Ministry to the Deaf’ is our newest program in Ndola, Zambia Our Deaf Outreach Ministry is vital to equipping deaf and hard of hearing children with the tools to be confident, self-sufficient, contributing members of their community. Our amazing staff is working to build relationships and show the love of Christ as they teach, feed and care for the boys in our program. Extreme poverty means the children in our Deaf Outreach Ministry never have enough to eat. It is hard to learn on an empty stomach. Our lunch program is a key component in our day. We also provide some take-home nutrition. Rays of Hope is the name of our entire project in Thailand. Rays of Hope includes Nuu Rain, Baan Isara and Baan Un Rak, and the Hill Tribe Women. Nuu Rain is in Chiang Mai, Thailand. At Nuu Rain, we house HIV infected/affected women who have been cast out from their families and society or are not able to live on their own. At Nuu Rain, our women receive love and hope through the mentorship program, a comfortable and secure home, medical care, and life skills. Our goal is to empower the ladies to be able to one day safely integrate back into society. Most importantly, at Nuu Rain our ladies get to experience the love and gospel of Jesus Christ. Some of these women have children, Rays of Hope provides for them as well by keeping the family together and making sure the children get to go to school. Baan Isara and Baan Un Rak - *NEW PROJECT – Baan Isara meaning “Freedom House” (girls) and Baan Un Rak meaning “Home of Warmth and Love” (boys) are homes for children who have been rescued from, or are at considerable risk of, human trafficking. During their stay with us, children live in a family environment under staff trained in child trauma. The children who have been rescued from human trafficking will also receive specialized trauma counseling. Since opening these homes, we have welcomed many girls and boys who now are living in a safe and loving environment. We are currently raising funds for an additional home for girls and an additional home for boys. Hill Tribe Women These women live in the hills of northern Thailand. Most people in the Hill Tribe villages are considered stateless: they have no rights and are unable to work or obtain services even though they have been in Thailand for generations. The women we support in the Hill Tribes have been shunned by their communities and families because of their HIV status. With no way to provide for themselves, they are vulnerable to poverty, disease, and physical harm. We are blessed to be able to love on these women, giving them support and providing necessities which include the gospel, food, shelter, and basic care.
