About This Cause
Low Income People Involvement of Nipissing (LIPI) is a non-profit charitable organization that assists low income and vulnerable individuals and families with a menu of services in order to prevent homelessness and assist those at risk of homelessness. All services target household stabilization and community engagement. LIPI firmly believes that with these two elements entrenched, households will thrive and succeed. LIPI works with multiple sectors to address unmet Human Service Needs/Gaps across the district of Nipissing in the fields of social services, emergency medical services, and social housing and homelessness. With over 25 years of experience in providing housing loss prevention programs, LIPI's reputation and credibility are well known across the district and throughout the province. The agency started out in 1985 as a Tenant Organization & Support Group and became a Not-For-Profit in 1986 and a Federal Registered Charitable Organization in 2004. Located in North Bay's downtown core since the early 90's, LIPI purchased its present location of 127 Main St. East in 2004, which provides office and programming space, as well as three social housing units for rent. LIPI has been providing holistic last resort services to clients at risk of becoming homeless and clients who are homeless in the Nipissing District since 1985. Known as the go-to agency that allows clients direct and immediate access to front line workers, we have ample experience providing programs that focus on prevention using a provocative approach without creating duplications or overlaps in services.
