Mission Statement

OBAD believes that community support by individuals with lived experience is essential for wellness and recovery and that creativity and self-expression develop self-awareness, build esteem, and reduce stigma.

About This Cause

The Organization for Bipolar and Affective Disorders (OBAD) is a non-profit community organization that champions mental health through structured peer support, comprehensive community education, and strategic collaborative initiatives. Leveraging the profound insights of those with direct experience in managing mental health challenges, OBAD provides authentic support and strategic guidance essential for recovery and wellness. Our approach is rooted in a deep-seated empathy and understanding of the complexities faced by individuals with mental health concerns. OBAD's peer support services are facilitated online by a professional cadre of staff members who each bring personal experience and a certified background in managing mood disorders. This ensures a high level of competency and empathy in the support provided. We are committed to the principle of barrier-free access to our resources, offering all services—including support meetings, educational presentations, and resource materials—complimentary to adults experiencing mood disorders and their family members and support networks.
