The British Columbia Aboriginal Network on Disability Society has been in successful existence for 30 years! During those years the Society has seen great change and growth as we, as an organization, have increased our capacity and continually gained insight and experience from our clients, Nations, communities and partner agencies. - Our Mission “Advancing the unique disability and health priorities of Indigenous persons through collaboration, consultation, and the delivery of comprehensive client services” - Our Vision “An inclusive and accessible Canada for all Indigenous persons and families living with disabilities where their disability and health priorities / needs are identified, planned for and addressed through relevant and holistic programs and services”

About This Cause

The British Columbia Aboriginal Network on Disability Society or BCANDS, is an internationally recognized and award winning, national Indigenous not-for-profit disability organization based in Victoria, British Columbia. BCANDS has provided programs and services available to Indigenous peoples living with disabilities, families and communities across Canada since 1991. BCANDS holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Development, one of only approximately 150 organizations in Canada to that hold such status. Current BCANDS program and services include: - Indigenous Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) Navigation Program; - Indigenous Disability Case Management; - Jordan's Principle Coordination Program - First Nation Persons with Disabilities Benefit Adjudication Program - Indigenous Disability Employment Engagement Program; - Indigenous COVID-19 Resource and Information Program; - First Nation Accessible Engagement Program – Accessible Canada Act; - National Indigenous Accessibility / National Accessibility Week Program; - Domestic Monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities Program – Lead Organization in Canada; - National - Indigenous Disability Awareness Month (V=Created by BCANDS in 2015) BCANDS program, services and work have been recognized throughout Canada and internationally.
