About This Cause

RESET Society of Calgary (formerly Servants Anonymous Society (SAS) is a unique registered charity, founded in 1989, that operates 24 hours a day all year-round. The EXploitation Intervention and Transition (EXIT) Program provides women with a chance to rebuild their lives. It removes them from living a life on the street, helps them conquer their battle with addictions, and teaches them that violence and sexual exploitation is not okay, helps to break this vicious cycle for their children, and allows them to further their education so they have other means to support themselves. The program is a proven, trauma-informed model delivered as a continuum of services. Participants (and their children) enter the program with extremely high risk of violent victimization and have often already suffered multiple traumas and victimizations. They come experiencing multiple complex needs and risk factors including addictions, mental health issues, homelessness, trauma, and experiences of violence. The EXIT Program offers immediate and safe Supportive Housing allowing women to stabilize and begin the process of healing, and transitional housing to fully independent living as the women progress through the program. We deliver crucial services including: a Recovery-oriented, comprehensive Life-skills Program, Therapy, a Women’s Health & Wellness, an onsite Childcare, Employment training, Educational Scholarships, and a long-term Community Supports. The EXIT Program not only focuses on recovery, but also ensures best practice holistic support is provided for Participants as they build the life-skills, employment, and resource networks they need to achieve stability and independence outside the sex trade in the long-term. Shelter / Affordable Accommodation: We offer three stages of housing including rapid exit in our i-EXIT Program, supported housing in one of our front-line houses (shared accommodation while in the life-skills classroom), and supported independent living closer to graduation which help the women transition through the phases of development in themselves and through the EXIT Program. Education / Classroom: Basic life-skills and recovery tools are used in our Life-Skills Classroom which includes the 12 Step Recovery Program, academics, women’s health, volunteering, job searching, parenting, budgeting and finance, gym, and many classes focus on finding healthy, positive, creative outlets. Employment Preparation & Training: Many of our graduates have expressed that they are most grateful for our job training and work experience program where they gain valuable experience to move forward in their recovery. Community Supports Outreach: Long-term support assisting on an as-needed basis with problem-solving, relapse prevention, educational and housing support as well as employment opportunities.
