Mission Statement

Mandate: “Partnering with communities to offer hope and healing through support and education” The mission of Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre Inc. (SHCC) is to provide support and services to individuals residing in the Interlake-Eastern region of Manitoba who have experienced acts of sexual violence, as well as to secondary victims of sexual violence. We recognize that acts of sexual violence are motivated by power inequalities, therefore our work also addresses social and systemic root causes of gender-based violence to create greater change to public ideology, policies, politics, and procedures.

About This Cause

Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre is a non-profit charity, meaning we rely entirely on grants and donations to fund our programs and services that are unique to Interlake-Eastern Manitoba. Supports for gender-based violence are extremely limited in rural areas and our programs provide vital connection and healing opportunities for survivors in the following ways: Sexual Assault Recovery and Healing (SARAH) Program - provides 24/7 crisis services, advocacy, information, long-term individual counselling, support groups, and education to individuals of all genders who have experienced sexual violence, such as assault, abuse, harassment, exploitation, and digital forms of violence. All services are free for those who need them, confidential, and available through in-person or online means to create the most accessible recovery process for survivors and their families. Sexual Assault Discussion Initiative (SADI) - works in partnership with schools to fulfill aspects of the Manitoba Curriculum pertaining to healthy relationships, sexuality, gender identity, personal and online safety, and mental health and wellness. SADI Facilitators travel to schools to conduct workshops and form relationships with students to increase their resiliency and circles of support. Reaching Out / Community Engagement - collaborates with community members, agencies, and organizations to increase public knowledge about resources for sexualized violence by attending events, participating in speaking opportunities, creating educational workshops, and through committee involvement. This work is also done in the grander scheme to advocate for policy and societal changes to prevent future experiences of violence. All donations support these programs and the survivors who utilize them, by allowing us to maintain and increase our capacity as needed and ensure we have healthier communities.
