Mission Statement
To promote the prevention of cruelty to animals that are neglected, abused, exploited, stray or homeless. Work within the law and in cooperation with the government, OSPCA and the public, in order to improve conditions for animals while maintaining a balanced sensitivity toward both animal and human needs.
About This Cause
Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward has been serving the people and animals of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties for over 50 years HSHPE (formerly Quinte Humane Society) cares for stray, surrendered, neglected and abused animals in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The Society returns lost animals to families, coordinates adoption of animals to forever homes, provides medical care and other necessities to animals in distress, promotes spay/neuter services to control pet over-population and educates the public about animal welfare. Since 1993 we have been affiliated with the (OSPCA) Ontario Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. HSHPE does NOT receive any operational government funding, apart from payment for the services we provide to take in animals picked up by municipal animal control officers . Over half of our funding comes from donations, fundraising events and bequeaths and they are vital to our survival.
