Mission Statement
The Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area (ASCCA) is a 4,800 acre day use natural area. It is located south west of the city of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The Cross Conservation Area is dedicated to: - protecting habitat and providing space for native species of wildlife, - offering conservation education programs (particularly to youth) without jeopardizing wildlife and habitat, and - managing human use of the ASCCA through entry by registration only.
About This Cause
The ASCCA consists of 4,800 acres of rolling foothills land. It was donated by Ann and Sandy Cross for the protection of wildlife habitat and conservation education. Located just southwest of the City of Calgary off Highway 22X, the ASCCA has over 20km of hiking trails open to the public year round from 4am-11pm. Thanks to the National Trails Foundation the ASCCA was able to update our trail system in 2014. The ASCCA provides conservation education programs for students from Calgary and the surrounding area. We provide on-site environmental education programs as well as outreach programs at school . These programs provide a unique, hands-on learning opportunity for youth. The ASCCA has engaged over 125,000 students with environmental education programs since 1992. These programs would not be possible without continuous donations and sponsors. The ASCCA is dependent on our volunteer program and volunteers assist us as area stewards, communications volunteers, conservation educators and with special projects. If you are interested to learn more about our volunteer program, or how you can donate to the ASCCA please see our website: www.crossconservation.org, or contact us at info@crossconservation.org, 403-931-1042.
