Mission Statement
We strive to save as many homeless companion animals, as possible, and find them forever homes.
About This Cause
Established in 1999, Mississauga Humane Society (MHS) is a 100% Volunteer Run Registered Charity dedicated to the rescue of homeless companion animals. We strive to save as many unwanted animals as possible regardless of background, age, health or behavioral issues. Our goal is to find each of our rescued animals a forever home where they are treated as a family member. MHS does not have a shelter, a business venue or paid staff. We rely on a network of Volunteers and Foster Homes. MHS does not receive funding/support from the Government, the City or the SPCA. MHS is not the Mississauga Animal Services which is the city funded animal shelter. MHS relies on the public for donations of money to cover veterinarian expenses. Since we do not have a facility, a shelter or paid staff, almost every penny we receive goes directly to animal veterinary care. Currently, we have over 100 rescue cats that are in our care. These cats have been trapped from living outside- received veterinarian care and live in loving foster homes. Some have been with the rescue for over 10 years. Many have medical conditions that require close monitoring by the veterinarian. They have thyroid conditions- kidney conditions- diabetes- stomatitis- and a variety of other medical conditions. These cats were rescued from living a harsh life outdoors and we are dedicated to providing them with the life and medical care they deserve. We also have a variety of foster dogs that require medical supervision. We rely on the public to support MHS through donations of dog food, cat food and cat litter. Please help homeless animals in need. Please give generously to help Mississauga Humane Society cover the staggering monthly veterinarian costs that we incur due to the many rescue and foster animals in our care.
