Mission Statement
At Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) of Alberta, our mission is to serve as a beacon of hope for animals in need, particularly those in rural areas and communities with limited resources. Founded in 1995, we are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming stray and unwanted animals, ensuring they find loving forever homes. We prioritize community and collaboration, working hand in hand with local organizations, volunteers, and supporters to amplify our impact. Through grassroots fundraising efforts, private donations, and collaborative partnerships, we strive to make a lasting impact on animal welfare. With a commitment to excellence, we provide top-notch veterinary care, implement positive reinforcement training, and offer enriching programs to nurture the physical and emotional well-being of every animal in our care.
About This Cause
At ARF Alberta, our mission is to improve the lives of animals by rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding them loving forever homes while promoting responsible pet guardianship and addressing animal welfare challenges in our community. For nearly 30 years, this mission has guided us in rescuing and placing over 10,000 dogs and cats in loving homes across the province. We are proud to be members of the Animal Welfare Coalition (AWC) of Alberta, where we work alongside other dedicated organizations to provide strategic direction, promote responsible pet ownership, and address important animal welfare issues. Our collaboration with the AWC allows us to stay connected with like-minded groups and advocate for the well-being of animals throughout Alberta. One of our most significant achievements in recent years has been the creation of Western Canada’s largest pet food bank. Through partnerships and donations, we distribute over 100,000 lbs of pet food annually to shelters, rescues, food banks, and indigenous communities. This initiative not only ensures that animals have access to essential nutrition but also alleviates financial strain for families and rescue organizations alike. In alignment with our mission to enhance the lives of animals, we are also developing a Behavior and Enrichment Program. This initiative aims to improve the well-being of shelter animals and help them transition more successfully into permanent homes. By addressing behavioral challenges and offering enrichment, we aim to reduce the length of stay for animals in our care and improve their chances of finding a loving family.
