Mission Statement
"... For the Unborn Children Travelling Towards Us" "The Creator placed the Luechogh Tue Denesuline equally on this land to freely govern ourselves with respect, honor, harmony, and to uphold and maintain our Denesuline language, culture and beliefs, for generations to come. That's the way things are until there is no tomorrow." Guiding Philosophy As a proud, unified Treaty First Nations, we are here to serve the members of CLFN with respect, integrity, and honesty. We will strive to achieve economic self-sufficiency, while maintaining and protecting our language, culture, heritage, and treaty rights. As descendants of the first peoples to occupy these lands, we the members of CLFN claim the right to govern ourselves as an independent and self-sufficient nation. In 1876, when our ancestors signed Treaty No. 6, nation to nation, with the representatives of Great Britain and Ireland, on behalf of the Dominion of Canada, we were promised our independence and sovereignty for as long as the sun shall rise, the rivers flow and the grass grows. It is a principle of our philosophy that no subsequent treaty, agreement, or proclamation has ever, nor will ever, derogate or abrogate our identity as a nation or our inalienable right to self-destiny. We are Indigenous to this land and have never abandoned our spiritual values, our traditions and our attachment to our great mother, the earth, who is the source of our existence. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples reconfirms international recognition of our right to self-determination including the right to freely determine our political status and to pursue our economic, social and cultural development. We have the right to autonomy and self-government in matters relating to our internal affairs as well as the ways and means for financing our autonomous functions. As a free people, it is our right to govern ourselves and it is the intent of this document to set down some of the principles upon which our government shall be based.
