If your postal code begins with T2T, T2V, T2S, T3E, or T3C you’re in CalGlen territory! We of course welcome anyone interested in our club from outside our core area to join us, but we concentrate our activities in our core communities. Established in 1971, we are one of the oldest soccer clubs in Calgary. Our values are summarized by four themes; football, fun, friends and future leaders. Football We aim to instill a lifelong love of football into our players. We aim to field recreational and competitive teams for boys and girls from grassroots up to U19. Our teams typically compete up to CMSA Tier II, but we also field Tier I teams where we feel it is appropriate. We want our players to have balanced lives and also pursue other activities outside of soccer. Calglen offers a top-class academy program developed in part through our collaboration with West Ham United of the English Premier League. Calglen is also expanding to include Men’s, Women’s, and Co-ed teams. Fun! Ensuring players of every ability have a safe and enjoyable soccer experience is our top priority. We provide players the opportunity to develop their skills and grow together as team; we promote equal playing for all players. Calglen aims to develop good foundational soccer skills from a young age so that kids can enjoy the beautiful game for as long as they wish to play. We enable our kids to enjoy other activities whether that be hockey, swimming, skiing, dance or any other pursuit of interest. We believe younger children benefit from a diversity of activities, and that developing well rounded and multi-sport athletes is advantageous for both long term soccer and overall development. We strive to keep costs as low as possible and keep soccer accessible for everyone. Friends We are a volunteer and community-based club. One of our core goals is to enrich the communities we serve. This involves connecting people that often live only a few blocks from each other to enable friendships to develop between both players and parents. We promote spontaneous soccer in our communities since our player base is typically highly concentrated in our neighbourhoods. We want our kids to spend less time being driven around in cars and more time in their local parks and communities with their teammates and friends. Future Leaders We are strongly focused on developing good kids. We prioritize sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play over a ‘winning at all costs’ mentality. We are proud of our association with Soccer Without Boundaries to provide playing opportunities to children who would otherwise not be able to play organized soccer in CMSA. We want our players to be good stewards in our communities.
