Mission Statement

To build a society which deeply values and prioritizes art and culture.

About This Cause

Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF) is organized by Create Vancouver Society and is Vancouver’s largest, free celebration of public art, community and music. Our vision is to build a society which deeply prioritizes art and culture. We do this by creating experiences which connect art and people, and with nearly 200 public murals painted in the central areas of Vancouver we’ve made this connection possible every day of the year. Our annual festival attracts upwards of 150,000 people over 10 days of public programming where we showcase live artist painting, gallery events, public dialogues, pop-up tattoo events, celebrations, live stages, family friendly licensed areas and more. Much of our work focuses on supporting emerging and underrepresented artists. We strive to support the visual cultures of the three local nations (Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh,) and other indigenous populations. Our mural artist line-up is consistently comprised of 50% female-identified and non-binary people. We aim to find this kind of parity within our team as well.
