The mission of this society is to help people acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to participate in creating a healthy community and lead a fulfilling life.
About This Cause
We believe that literacy is an essential skill needed to navigate this world successfully. We celebrate each other's knowledge and skills while building our reserves to tackle social, economic and environmental action. We believe that education can be a creative and empowering tool that builds confidence and success. We design programs and create opportunities for our members to share their love of learning, building a resilient community and strengthening networks in the process. We provide relevant workshops and tutoring to support learners to identify and achieve their goals. We offer tutoring for reading and writing, math and numeracy. We offer assistance with computers, access to the internet, and various IT applications. We provide information, resources, and opportunities to enhance health literacy. We encourage civic engagement and cultural understanding working together to effect social, political and environmental change. We provide basic financial education including budgeting, understanding of supports and resources as well as community tax clinics. We offer unique youth services including transitional housing for young adults and a drop-in youth centre. Our services are free and accessible.
