Mission Statement

The mission of ShEvalesco is to empower female-identified and gender-diverse youth with knowledge, strategies and tools to confidently navigate life. This mission propels us towards our vision: a world in which young people's attainment of success is limitless. ShEvalesco is derived from the Latin word Evalesco meaning to increase in strength, to be able, to be worth, & to prevail. We are dedicated to working in a way that is: collaborative, impactful, accountable, respectful of all youth & always contagiously enthusiastic.

About This Cause

ShEvalesco has been empowering youth at the local, provincial and national level since 2017, providing strength-based life-skill programming for over 7,000 individuals ages 9-30 to date. We collaboratively partner with organizations dedicated to educating and empowering youth to deliver a best-in-class, trauma-informed and evidence-based curriculum focused on three curriculum pillars: financial literacy, workplace readiness, and mental health and resilience. Our community parters are extremely diverse, spanning elementary/secondary schools, community centres, charities, leadership groups, youth employment programs and special interest groups. ShEvalesco strives to creatively meet the diverse needs of youth across Canada, as well as the needs of the organizations who rally around them. It is for this reason that our programs and services fall into four unique categories of delivery: 1) Short-term program delivery (in-person and online): finite workshop series delivered by our facilitation team. 2) Long-term, year-round programs: sustained youth engagement (in-person and online) in partnership with special interest groups (e.g. Girls Who LEAP Society, West Coast Kids Cancer Foundation, the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology). 3) E-learning programs: barrier-free, pre-facilitated and recorded online programming for organizations who serve youth across Canada. 4) United for YOUth Curriculum Licensing: a social enterprise launched in 2023 in which we empower community-organizations to facilitate ShEvalesco curricula to their own circles of youth, thereby increasing organizational capacity for life-skill programming. The majority of our program participants are equity-deserving female-identified and gender-diverse youth, including Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQI+, newcomers to Canada, low-income, and special-interest groups (young women in STEM; young people navigating a cancer diagnosis).
