Mission Statement

The Reporter is a non-profit online media organization founded by The Reporter Foundation in Taiwan. We strive for producing in-depth report, tracking issues at stake and conduct investigative journalism. We aim to build a more open and multicultural media environment and society as a whole.

About This Cause

Taiwan has been undergoing a drastically historical change, involving the transition of values between new/old generations and the paradigm shift in media industry, which together becomes a whole new challenge for Taiwanese news media workers. However huge the challenge is, there’s a group of people who still have passion and faith in news work. Most importantly, it is clear that Taiwanese society is in need of a news media that produces truthful and in-depth report, digging issues at stake and scrutinize the public policy for a better understanding of the world and us. Therefore, The Reporter, an online news media, has appeared. As an online news media, The Reporter emphasizes on producing in-depth report and explores new story-telling methods, while carrying the funding causes at heart. More specifically, The Reporter’s news work focuses on three main realms: investigative reports, international & HK and China issues at stakes, opinions that have cultural and thought insight. We aspire to evolve with the civic society towards a more liberal future that values highly on the openness and publicity of the Internet space and the real world as well. “It’s our own responsibility to produce truthful news.” In days like this, it’s easy to be cynical, disappointed and outrageous towards what’s happening now, but this would hardly make a better world. The Reporter believes that, by taking the less traveled-by road, a transformation within the news industry begins and will eventually transform the society.
