Mission Statement

At AidLive, we enhance human potencial of migrants, refugees and vulnerable populations by connecting them with opportunities. In February 2019, a group of world-class businessmen, young leaders, influencers and artists, with a high sensitivity for the situation in Venezuela, decided to join forces to create one of the largest awareness mobilizations about the humanitarian emergency in the country. The Venezuela Aid Live concert brought together 375,000 people on the Colombian-Venezuelan border and millions of television viewers;and raised 2,3 million USD. Led by Victoria Sierra and Bruno Ocampo with the support of Virgin Unite and Sir Richard Branson This group of globally renowned entrepreneurs, influencers and artists convened the largest citizen demonstration ever seen around the crisis in Venezuela. Aid Live Foundation focuses on promoting the integral development and well-being of Venezuelan children in vulnerable communities and Venezuelan migrants in Colombia. We believe in the importance of medium and long term programs, going beyond traditional actions that address humanitarian emergencies to provide well-being and improve health and nutrition, especially in children and youth. This translates into a powerful exchange of ideas and a community of leaders who provide local solutions. AidLive promotes the integral development and well-being of Venezuelan children, migrants and refugees. We have designed and run 10 social programs in Colombia & Venezuela, with +11,000 direct beneficiaries and +28,000 indirect beneficiaries. We are currently launching a new education and employability project called Free, which will provide education, financial inclusion, and employment opportunities for 1.000 migrants, refugees, and people in vulnerable conditions in Colombia through an integral support system, to improve their well-being.

About This Cause

To guarantee the continuity of the initial efforts, to contribute to mitigate some of the most urgent needs of the humanitarian emergency and to ensure transparency in the use of the donations collected, the organizers of the Concert Venezuela Aid Live decided to create in Colombia, Aid Live Foundation, an organization composed of a group of experts in social development and migration, who conducted a field study within Venezuela and Colombia, to establish the guidelines that will generate the greatest possible impact through the programs. Aid Live Foundation focuses on promoting the comprehensive development and well-being of Venezuelans in vulnerable communities and migrants in Colombia. We believe in the importance of creating medium and long term programs, going beyond the traditional actions that deal with humanitarian emergency that is why our programs seek to generate safe spaces to provide welfare, improve health and nutrition of Venezuelan families, especially women, children and youth. Between February and April 2019, as the fundraising process continued and the creation of Aid Live Foundation as a non-profit organization was initiated, a team of social development experts conducted extensive research to identify the most urgent needs in the migrant population. The process included the analysis of data from reports and research conducted by international agencies and NGOs working in the most vulnerable locations in Venezuela and in the care of Venezuelan migrants in Colombia; plus a process of participatory observation and Participatory Action Research in the most affected regions. The communities selected for the development of the programs in Venezuela were those with the highest index of malnutrition and vulnerability of the population. In Colombia, priority was given to the development of programs in border areas and departments with the greatest vulnerability of the migrant population. This process resulted in the identification of the most urgent needs, which are: nutrition and health for children and youth, access to clean water, access to health services with emphasis on sexual and reproductive health, and integration of the migrant population in Colombia. With 375,000 attendees, 48 million viewers worldwide throughout the live broadcast, and 80,000 donors, AidLive Foundation spurred the passage of a bill in Colombian Congress to provide legal status for 1.8 million Venezuelan refugees. This allowed for them to have legal access for employment opportunities, health and education. After the founding concert for Venezuela, AidLive Foundation was born to accelerate the inclusion and access of millions of refugees, migrants, and vulnerable communities worldwide. During our three years of work, we have more than 21,000 direct beneficiaries and 60,000 indirect beneficiaries within our 11 development programs in Colombia and Venezuela, focusing on employment opportunities, nutritional support and access to clean water, health care and family wellens, education and migratory integration. Aid Live Foundation was established as a non-profit entity, under the principles of Colombian regulation law for non-profit organizations. It is regulated by Decree 059 of 1991 because it is an organization incorporated in the city of Bogotá. It is governed under the rules of the Civil Code of Decree 2150 of 1995 and is under the supervision of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá. In order to legally establish the Foundation, it was: Registered with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce in the Business and Social Unique Registry (RUES), presenting the minutes of the constitution assembly and its statutes. And registered in the Unique Tax Registry (RUT) before the National Customs Office (DIAN). How we select our partners? Based on a national mapping carried out with the support of local governments, international agencies and local organizations, we identified the programs and projects to assist migrants in Colombia and vulnerable populations in Venezuela. Once this inventory was made, those organizations that met the validation criteria selected based on the theory of Shadish, Cook and Leviton (1991) were selected: Relevance: Adequacy of the partner organization’s objectives and results in the context in which it operates and in relation to the objectives of Aid Live Foundation. Management capacity: Institutional capacity of the partner to operate programs and generate impact in the communities it supports. Sustainability: Capacity for the organization and its recipient organizations to continue their actions once Aid Live Foundation support is withdrawn. Effectiveness: Relationship between the results achieved and the objectives set. Efficiency: Relationship between achievements and resources used. With external audit and criteria of transparency in resource management. Impact: Capacity to demonstrate impact on beneficiary populations. The organizations selected after analyzing their impact and their compliance with the validation criteria were invited to present their programs and projects to the foundation. What is the process for project selection like? All projects funded by Aid Live Foundation are operated by local organizations that were invited to cocreate, together with our technical team, programs to assist the most vulnerable population in Venezuela and Venezuelan migrants in Colombia. Free by AidLive is a new program , operated directly by us. It was created in 2021 to promote venezuelans' inclusions. It is an employability and wellbeing program for migrants, refugees and vulnerable populations that seeks to provide thousands of individuals and families with a regular income and an integral support system. This program provides, through an effective use of technology, education, financial inclusion and employment opportunities to its beneficiaries through a support system called Life Plan, with the purpose of stabilizing their income, improving their material, personal and professional conditions, and increasing their wellbeing. This way, Free gives innovative solutions to the greatest barriers these populations face in their way out of poverty which are the lack of: Access to quality education Minimum income Financial inclusion Employment opportunities Psychological and legal stability. Sense of belonging and community. There is a built route for the program, based on scalability and technology use: Talent recruitment: Free recruits and characterizes beneficiaries through AidLive’s programs and partners such as Prosperidad Social, Alcaldía, Alcaldía de Medellín, Torrenegra, allied NGOs, Movii, migration institutions, Comfama, among others. Free has already a community of +5.000 people in its database. 2.500 people have completed their professional and socio-economic characterization. English test: beneficiaries are asked to complete an English test so we can identify their English level and know which of them need further training in order to connect with bilingual employment. Non-bilingual selection processes: through partnerships with companies, non-bilingual candidates are connected with employment opportunities. They are prepared for the selection processes and their profiles are sent to the companies to be considered and evaluated. Sensibilization workshops: partner companies participate in a sensibilization workshop dictated by AidLive, Gerencia de Fronteras (Border Administration), Labour Ministry and UNHCR, with the purpose of adapting their processes to receive, employ and integrate migrant candidates. Access to monthly credit or allowance: the program will offer candidates for bilingual posts a monthly credit or allowance so they can study English full time, receiving a minimum income. This could be a credit, which they would pay once they are employed and that has a guarantee for repayment up to 70% from USAID; or could be a non-refundable allowance given by DIV or other donors. English training: participants will start studying English through the e-learning platform Platzi, with a pensum specially designed for this program, which includes soft skills. Their performance will be continually evaluated. English test: after the months of studying (1-6 months), participants will present a test that testifies their B2 level. Free provides options for those who need an additional sprint. Selection processes and job placement (bilingual): after their English level has been tested and certified, candidates will go through the selection processes with the companies, chosen and hired with a permanent contract and a 2-3 minimum wage income, with all the legal and extralegal benefits. Free will receive a payment of 20% of the candidates’ income for their 1rst month, and of 10% for each month they continue in the company until the 18th month. This payment will be reinvested in the participants’ wellbeing and the program’s sustainability. Live Plan: From the very first contact, Free offers beneficiaries services and support. These services (communication, legal advice, psychological support, community building, sense of belonging, insurances, health, financial and educational services) will contribute to their job permanency, the exit from vulnerability and their integral wellbeing. The reality of Venezuelan migration to Colombia has generated an important social movement and several foundations and institutions have reached out to the population.
