Mission Statement

Charita Svitavy is a non-governmental non-profit organization supporting the elderly, adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses, families with children and the socially needy in an adequate way of life. It also provides care for the sick and dying. Charity wants to be a visible sign of God's love (caritas) for the world and man, especially for the poor, weak, suffering and otherwise endangered people in our region, in regard to Gospel. Charita Svitavy wish to share its mission with its employees, clients and supporters and act in such a way that merciful love enters the world through it. The charitable approach to people is founded on dignity, the common good, solidarity and responsibility.

About This Cause

Charita Svitavy provides social services: Care Service, Day Care Center- Světlanka, Home Health Care - nursing and palliative care. Caritas lends compensatory aids and provides social assistance at the humanitarian aid center as well as distributing food from the food bank. Charita Svitavy has been operating since 1993. It is part of the Archdiocesan Charity Olomouc and Caritas Czech Republic, which is a member of Caritas Internationalis. It is an organization of the Roman Catholic Church with its own legal personality, established by the Archbishop of Olomouc, Mons. Jan Graubner and registered with the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic pursuant to the provisions of Section 22, Paragraph 1 of Act No. 308/1991 Coll., On Freedom of Religious Faith and the Status of Churches and Religious Societies. The date of the last registration is October 30, 1996. 1. The Care Service of Caritas provides field care and support to those whose situation requires the assistance of another person to remain in their home environment and to provide them with assistance so they live a dignified life according to their needs. Its main activities include: assistance with personal hygiene, assistance with everyday tasks, provision of food and assistance with food, household assistance, social counseling. The service operates 365 days a year from 6 am to 10 pm. It currently has approximately 160 clients. 2. The Světlanka Day Care Center has a mission to contribute to the quality of life of adults with disabilities, people with chronic illnesses and the elderly people. To enable them to spend part of the day meaningfully and actively outside their home and, according to the principles of individual approach, to provide them with adequate support and necessary care in the following areas: • arranging contact with the social environment, • developing, consolidating and maintaining motor skills, thinking, memory and practical skills, • establishing, maintaining and developing social relations, • personal hygiene. The capacity of the center is 32 clients. 3. Home health care provides nursing and palliative care to patients in the Svitavy region. It is designed for those with a life limiting illness to help relieve symptoms, manage pain and improve their quality of life till death in their home with all the necessary health care. It is provided by 5 general nurses and a multidisciplinary team. It works 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The public health insurance reimburses patients for the performed services. 4. The rental of compensatory aids lends our clients electric adjustable beds, walkers, toilet chairs, anti-decubitus mattresses and other necessary items. It also lends dryers. 5. The Humanitarian Aid Center provides material and financial social assistance to people in need. Especially single mothers, large families, seniors, or homeless people. It also redistributes food from the food bank.
