Mission Statement

Mehad is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to bring medical aid to populations in need. It also participates through its testimonial and awareness-raising actions to relay information on the health, humanitarian, and social situation in the regions of intervention.

About This Cause

Created in response to the war in Syria, Mehad (first AAVS, then UOSSM France) seeks to provide health support to populations in need because of a conflict situation. Mehad is committed to the urgent need to build, with local actors, sustainable health systems that guarantee long-term development for populations. Mehad carries out vital missions for populations, relying on a network of more than 1000 health professionals mobilized from France and all over the world. Its actions are located in Northern Syria (and the Middle East in general) and the rest of the world (with current actions in Ukraine). Mehad interventions cover several topics linked to the health and well-being of people affected by a conflict: - Support to hospitals (supply of material, equipment and consumables, recruitment, training and support of staff and specific services) - Primary health (primary health centres and mobile clinics) for services such as general medicine, protection, malnutrition, maternity and reproductive health, dental health...) - Training of specialised and non-specialised medical staff - Mental health - Protection (especially for women and children) - Secondary and Tertiary health (including through blood banks, dialysis centres, thalassemia therapies...) - Nutrition (with a special focus on pregnant and lactating women and young children)
