Mission Statement
Solthis is an international solidarity NGO. Its goal is to improve prevention and access to quality care by strengthening the health systems and services of the countries where the NGO operates. It works hand-in-hand with local actors in West and Central Africa. The activities are foccused on : - Infectious and neglected tropical diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, COVID-19…) - Sexual and reproductive health and rights, mother and child health (prenatal care, obstetrics, neonatal, access to family planning services, the fight against gender-based violence…).
About This Cause
Solthis was created in 2003 on the initiative of infectious disease doctors at the hospital La Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris. It acts in West Africa in supporting existing public structures and local actors. Its objective: strengthen their capabilities so that populations are able to access quality healthcare services. Solthis mobilize multidisciplinary academic expertise for action in the field to take into account all dimensions of health issues : medical, social, economic or political in a pragmatic approach to create solutions adapted to the field. Our activities are foccused on : - infectious and neglected tropical diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, COVID-19…) - maternal and child health - sexual and reproductive health and rights. Examples of projects : - IPOP : Introduction of Point of care to optimize postnatal prophylaxis for HIV-exposed newborns - AIR-POP : Using drones to optimise care for children exposed to HIV in Conakry - PAJES : Empowering associations and young people committed to promoting sexual health - ISANCO : reducing the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on patients and healthcare workers - SANSAS : Sexual and Reproductive Health of Adolescents and Youth in Senegal
