Mission Statement
SUPPORT FOR THE CHILDREN: In poor families in Kep ESK helps families in great difficulty with money and food. In return the families agree to let their children continue to study.The costs of health care, hygiene, and education are covered. In the Happiness Homes in Battambang and Phnom Penh ESK has created foster homes that can accommodate 15 children each. In these homes ESK covers all of the expenses: housing, salaries (caregivers, administrator), food, healthcare, and education. The children’s education is closely followed and children receive complementary lessons in Khmer, English, and computer science. STUDENT SUPPORT: Our aim is to help young people find an occupation. ESK is convinced orientation is very important and privileges professional training which is much sought after in Cambodia. The best students can go to university. There is a 100% success rate for the students in professional schools.
About This Cause
OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PROJECTS: Emphasis on health: A team of French doctors regularly sees each child: checkups, health journals updated, vaccinations, dental care, screening for parasitic infections, checking access to drinking water, hygiene education and trauma care. Sustainable development At the Battambang Happiness Home, ESK has created installations making water drinkable, protecting the groundwater level, creating aquaponics and also a vegetable garden based on permaculture. Other projects have been realized such as drilling to give Kep families access to drinking water on empowerment principles.
