Mission Statement
TransInterQueer is an organization by and for trans, intersex and queer people, based in Berlin/Germany, and is working on a local, regional, national and partly international level.
About This Cause
TransInterQueer is an organization by and for trans, intersex and queer people, based in Berlin/Germany, and is working on a local, regional, national and partly international level. TrIQ provides self-help groups, and offers counseling and consultation for individuals and institutions. TrIQ has been the driving force behind the 2nd European Transgender Council and is actively involved in shaping trans friendly policy on a regional, national and European level. TrIQ reaches out to more than 1700 people with its regular services, networks, social media tools and mailing lists. TransInterQueer provides workshops, printed guide lines and educational training for medical staff (midwives, psychotherapists, other health care providers) in order to improve medical service for trans and intersex people who are often facing inappropriate treatment. We also train journalists regarding well acknowledged and respectful coverage of trans topics in the media, and we have published a brochure for journalists. There are more than 15 groups taking place in our community center in Berlin, for example: transfemale voice training, trans with learning impairment, trans in english, neither/nor, queer yoga, queer meditation, transmen & genderboys, trans of age, intersex cafe, trans kungfu, and many workshops which we try to keep as accesible as possible: only donation-based, with whispering translations if required, in a wheelchair-accessible space. From its beginning in 2006 on, TrIQ is strongly related not only to trans communities, but also to intersex communities. Since 2014, we run an antidiscrimimation and empowerment project for intersex people which organizes lectures, film nights and statements on intersex human rights. TransInterQueer ist closely connected to the International Organisation of Intersex People (OII) and their German sub organisation IVIM, to get the necessarities of intersex people better involved and visible into TrIQ, regarding both knowledge-building and allied support of specific intersex health care related demands and needs. TrIQ has about 150 members, six part-time staffers and about 35 incredible and much appreciated volunteers running activities like all the groups, the biweekly trans inter archive, the monthly transgender radio, the visiting service for trans and intersex people of age, a weekly meeting point for trans sexworkers, a monthly trans cabaret salon... We would like to thank you for your interest. In case you would like to support the work of TransInterQueer, thank you so much as well. Leo Yannick Wild from the TransInterQueer team
