Mission Statement

Mission Statement for HEARTs e.V.: At HEARTs e.V., our mission is to empower and uplift vulnerable children and communities in South Africa by providing access to quality education, essential resources, and sustainable opportunities. We currently operate a preschool serving 40 young children, 25% of whom are orphans or come from families with no income, ensuring they receive foundational support for a brighter future. Committed to breaking the cycle of poverty, we create safe learning environments, provide essentials like clean water, nutrition, and electricity, and foster skill development through our various projects. In the near future, we aim to launch our IT Empowerment Initiative to equip high school graduates, particularly young women, with digital skills, coaching, and mentorship—opening doors to meaningful employment and entrepreneurship in a region where youth unemployment is critically high. We have already developed a financial plan to bring this initiative to life, ensuring its sustainable impact on our community. Guided by the values of Help, Encouragement, Assistance, Respect, and Tolerance, we work to inspire hope, dignity, and self-sufficiency, creating lasting change in the lives of children and strengthening entire communities for generations to come.

About This Cause

Project Description: HEARTs e.V. in White City Village, Burlington, Mpumalanga HEARTs e.V., founded in September 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany, is dedicated to improving the living conditions of children in White City Village, Mpumalanga, South Africa, through education and social support. Our organization focuses on addressing the significant challenges faced by children in this community, where many lack access to basic resources and quality education. Project Location: White City Village, Burlington, Mpumalanga Located near the Kruger National Park, White City Village is a region marked by high levels of poverty and limited educational opportunities. Many children in this area struggle to access the resources they need for a successful future. HEARTs e.V. aims to create sustainable, long-term change through several key initiatives. Key Initiatives - School Construction: One of our primary goals is to build new classrooms to increase access to education for more children. By expanding educational facilities, we can provide a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages children to stay in school and achieve their academic potential. - IT Center: Empowering Youth Through Digital Skills In a world increasingly driven by technology, the establishment of an IT Center is essential for creating career opportunities for young people after they graduate from high school. This initiative focuses on equipping youth, particularly young women, with practical digital skills that are critical in today’s job market. The IT Center will provide training in various areas, including: Basic Computer Skills: Introducing students to essential software applications, internet navigation, and online safety. Programming and Coding: Offering courses in programming languages and coding fundamentals to prepare students for careers in technology. Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship: Teaching young people how to leverage digital platforms for business and personal branding, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. Career Coaching and Mentorship: Connecting students with mentors in the tech industry to guide them in their career paths and provide networking opportunities. By focusing on digital literacy, we aim to reduce the high unemployment rate among youth in South Africa, giving them the tools to succeed in a competitive job market and encouraging them to pursue further education or enter the workforce with confidence. -Drinking Water Well: Ensuring Access to Clean Water Access to clean water is a fundamental need that many children in White City Village currently lack. The installation of a water well will ensure a reliable supply of safe drinking water for the children and the community, improving overall health and well-being. - Electricity Installation: Providing Light and Power The absence of electricity on the school premises limits learning opportunities and compromises safety. Installing electrical connections will allow for better learning conditions, enabling the use of electronic learning tools and providing a safer environment for the children. - Kitchen Construction: Ensuring Healthy Meals We plan to build a fully equipped kitchen to replace the current provisional arrangements. This kitchen will enable us to provide nutritious meals to the children, which is vital for their growth and development. - Space for Infants: Age-Appropriate Care To better serve our youngest learners, we aim to create a separate space for babies and toddlers. Currently, children aged 1 to 6 share a room, which does not adequately meet their diverse needs. A dedicated space will ensure that all children receive appropriate care and attention. - Improving Learning Conditions: Creating a Supportive Environment We are committed to enhancing the overall learning environment by providing mattresses for the floor, educational materials, kitchen utensils, and fresh paint for the classrooms. These improvements will foster a more conducive learning atmosphere for all students. - Ongoing Operational Costs: Ensuring Sustainability To maintain our operations over the next six months, we will cover ongoing costs that include: Food Supply: Providing meals for 40 children and 6 staff members, as well as additional support for 10 children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Cooking Fuel: Supplying gas and firewood to ensure that meals can be prepared year-round, regardless of weather conditions. Utilities: Covering electricity and Wi-Fi expenses to support the school's operations and the future IT Center. Staff Salaries and Bonuses: Ensuring fair compensation for our dedicated teachers and staff, including our local contact, Goodman Ubisi Mandla, as a token of appreciation for his invaluable support. Conclusion With these comprehensive initiatives, HEARTs e.V. aims to create a sustainable and hopeful future for children and youth in White City Village. By prioritizing education, health, and professional opportunities, we are committed to building a strong, self-sufficient community that empowers its members to achieve their full potential. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these children and foster a brighter future for generations to come.
