About This Cause
Barnabas Children Center e.V. is a German-based NGO supporting the Barnabas Children Center, a school and orphanage complex, close to Mombasa, Kenya. In close collaboration with our partners in Kenya, we are committed to delivering a holistic education that empowers children intellectually, emotionally, and socially. By fostering a love for learning and critical thinking, we aim to equip these children with the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty and thrive in their communities. We understand that many children don't have enough to eat at home, compromising their overall health and ability to learn effectively. Barnabas Children Center e.V. is addressing this issue by ensuring that every pupil receives at least one warm meal a day. Furthermore, we offer a stable workplace for more than 25 staff members including teachers and caretakers. We are proud to be part of this growing project, which started in 2011 with only a dozen children and has now evolved into a large school complex with more than 600 children and an accompanying orphanage, home to 50 students. Within our orphanage, we provide a loving and nurturing environment, ensuring their well-being, safety, and emotional growth. Despite their young age, a lot of the children already went through traumatic experiences. To help them, we have a full-time social worker at the project who also raises awareness on sensitive topics such as menstrual care, sex education, and sexual abuse. Our overall goal is to offer stability, love, and a sense of family, providing a strong foundation for a brighter future for these children. The Barnabas Children Center e.V. operates with a lean and passionate team of eight dedicated volunteers, all driven by a common purpose to make a positive impact. 100% of your donation we receive goes directly to the Barnabas Children Center in Kenya.
