Mission Statement
The idea for the LOAN Stiftung (LO-ANH Foundation) was the child of two very different life experiences of Isabelle Müller and her Vietnamese mother. In the 1930s, her mother Loan (Lo-Anh) was not allowed to attend school because she was a girl and poor. Inquisitive and determined, in search of freedom and happiness, she risked her life for an education. In 1955, she left her war-torn country. In France, her new home, she was subject to discrimination and hostility because of the color of her skin. Despite living in abject poverty, she raised her five children, always emphasizing that education was a great privilege. As Loan’s last child, author Isabelle Müller has strong memories of these times. They had no beds, and she remembers how hard and cold the bedroom floor felt. How cold-hearted other people were towards them because they couldn’t keep up materially. And how difficult it was to maintain what little dignity remained for them and battle the loneliness that had settled into their hearts. Yet in their lives, there were complete strangers who changed them forever with their willingness to help, their selflessness, and their love, restoring their faith in people. Their warmth gave them strength and nourished their hope that one day they’d be in a position to give back what kindness they’d been shown and to help others in need. It was in this spirit, in keeping with her mother’s life philosophy, that Isabelle Müller established the LOAN Stiftung (LO-ANH Foundation) in May 2016. Isabelle Müller published her mothers biography "Loan - Aus dem leben eines Phönix" in Germany and Vietnam. This book was finalist at the amazon KindleStoryteller Award 2015".
About This Cause
Since Mai 09th, 2016, the LOAN Stiftung (LO-ANH Foundation) is officially recognized as a legally responsible, non-profit German foundation under the principles of German civil law. Our team of volunteers is dedicated to make a self-determined future possible for children in remote and poorest areas, especially children of ethnic minorities in Vietnam. As a turnover foundation and after a personal assessment, we realize i.a. respective projects, such as the construction of equipped kindergartens, schools and boarding houses. We support the access to education personally, locally and on a regularly basis and make sure our projects are implemented in a sustainable way. Orphans and children living in poverty can access to education thanks to our “Scholarship for Education”. Our work remains voluntary and free of charge (all administration charges are paid by Isabelle Müller and her family), so that donations are entirely used to realize the projects. Donations are tax-deductible in Germany.
