About This Cause
Hilat Al Bir - Nurturing knowledge in Sudan Education and health are two key factors in any programme aiming to improve the living conditions in Sudan. We help Sudanese villagers to build and maintain wells, schools and health centres. Because we work closely with the people in the villages they make the projects their own and therefore make them work: from kindergartens to primary and secondary schools stretches a path to more learning and therefore better starting conditions for the young people of Hilat al-Bir and the surrounding region. Our association Friends of Hilat Al Bir e.V. is a non-profit organisation and is classed by the tax office as „particularly worthy of support“. All donations and membership fees flow completely into our projects. This is only possible because we all work on a voluntary basis. Education enables children to realize their potential and ensures a strong and functional society. To this aim we have not only built numerous schools but also teachers‘ accommodation, kindergartens and a health station with accommodation for medical staff. Local crafts have been supported by the construction of a workshop. We are making a decisive positive difference to the lives of the over 40,000 people in our area of operation. There are, of course, many more children who could benefit from going to school rather than walk for hours to fetch water. All the money we raise goes to building more schools and more health centres in Sudan. Your help is needed to allow the children of Sudan to take their future into their own hands and create a better life for themselves.
