About This Cause
Play Soccer is a unique, sport-inspired programme that empowers children and youth to lead change in the world’s most underserved communities. It operates with the core values of volunteerism, learning outside the classroom, and serving disadvantaged communities. Play Soccer Ghana (PSG) is a Ghanaian non-profit association and a member of the Play Soccer Network called the Play Soccer Non Profit International (PSNI) with six affiliated country organizations (USA, Cameroun, Malawi, Senegal, South Africa and Zambia). Play Soccer Ghana was started in 2001 as the Network's first pilot programme. The Play Soccer (core) programme uses football as a tool to teach, health, social and football skills to children between the ages of 5-15 years in disadvantaged communities. It is an educational programme that promotes development through sport operating with the motto; “Play for fun, learn for life!” It aims at equipping the children with the requisite life skills needed for their healthy development into skilled, capable, educated and responsible adults and thus become agents of change within their communities as well as act as a catalyst for community development on a whole.
