Mission Statement

Positive Voice was founded in 2009 in order to defend the rights of people living with HIV, to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS and to reduce its social and economic impact in Greece. According to its statutes, in order to achieve its purpose, the association works to ensure better prevention and information practices, and social care services for people living with HIV/AIDS and for social groups vulnerable to HIV. At the same time, it works for social acceptance, solidarity and support for these groups to address violations of their dignity and human rights.

About This Cause

Positive Voice offers a range of services for people living with HIV and for other vulnerable communities, such as the LGBTQI+ community, sex workers, refugees/migrants, and people who use drugs, among others. Some of its most well-known projects are the "Checkpoint" Prevention & Sexual Health Centers in Athens and Thessaloniki (providing free, anonymous, rapid HIV/Hepatitis B/Hepatitis C/Syphilis testing and sexual health counseling), the "Ref Checkpoint" Prevention & Sexual Health Centre for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers (providing its services in nine different languages), the "Red Umbrella" day-centers for sex workers in Athens and Thessaloniki and the "Streetwork Project", which approaches the most vulnerable members of minority groups in the streets in order to distribute essentials and condoms, provide free testing and promote HIV/STIs prevention.
