Mission Statement

Good Neighbors exists to make the world a place without hunger, where people live together in harmony. Good Neighbors respects the human rights of our neighbors suffering from poverty, disasters, oppression, and helps them to achieve self-reliance and enables them to rebuild their hope.

About This Cause

Good Neighbors Guatemala is a humanitarian development NGO founded in Guatemala in 2008. Its partner organization - Good Neighbors International - was granted General Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). We have started CDPs (Community Development Projects) from the establishment to support Guatemalan people who are suffering from poverty and disasters. Our projects are focusing on right-based approach and community empowerment to achieve sustainable development. We currently operate projects in 87 communities serving 13,923 children and their families and collaborating with more than 50,000 community members. In addition, international development agency, local government and academic institutions are willingly getting involved in our movement to generate a bigger positive impact in Guatemalan society. Education program - School Olympics: Improving quality of education, teacher empowerment - Seed Your Future: Scholarship & leadership program Health & Nutrition program - NUTRIFAM: Family nutrition farm program - Community Clinic, pharmacy, and nutrition center - Health check-up for sponsorship children Income Generation program: - Social Enterprises: improved cook stoves, coffee, handicraft, etc. - Production Cooperatives: Traditional weaving, Bracelet, Eggs, Coffee, Avocado, etc. WASH (Water-Sanitation and Hygiene) program - Agua Viva: distribution of purified water - Community well construction Advocacy program - Drawing contest on child rights Good Sisters: self-help group for girls’ rights - Hope Letter: Awareness campaign for local fundraising
