Mission Statement
香港導盲犬服務中心由主席張偉民先生(Raymond)創立並聯同一眾熱心義工協助營運，當中包括由各界專業人士組成的執行委員會、顧問團及籌款團隊，全力支援中心的服務。 主席的話 發展及推廣導盲犬服務是我的心願。自1990年起，我走訪新西蘭、澳洲、英國、加拿大、日本及台灣等地，學習訓練導盲犬、擔當義務工作及與國際導盲犬學校交流。直至2012年成立「香港導盲犬服務中心」，並成為中心的主席及義工。我們明白公眾對導盲犬服務感到陌生，因此我和中心的義工團隊，到訪不同的學校、公私營機構，以及視障人士及團體進行宣導活動，令市民認識及接受導盲犬。 導盲犬不但能夠幫助視障人士獨立自信地行走，亦能成為他們的生活及心靈的好伙伴。我會繼續努力地培訓人才及實踐本土化導盲犬繁殖，殷切期望導盲犬的服務能夠持續在香港發展下去，造福香港視障人士。 Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services (HKSEDS) was established by Mr. Raymond Cheung as the Chairman and operate by fellow enthusiastic volunteers. Our volunteer team comprises “The Executive Committee”, “The Consultant Team” and “Fundraising Team” with different community members who devote their professions in supporting HKSEDS. Chairman’s Message To develop and promote Seeing Eye Dog Service is my greatest wish. Since 1990, I have been to New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and Taiwan. I learnt how to train Seeing Eye Dogs, took part in volunteer jobs and communicated with different Seeing Eye Dog / Guide Dog schools all over the world. In 2012, Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services (HKSEDS) has been established and I became the Chairman as a volunteer. We understand that Hong Kong public are not familiar with the services of Seeing Eye Dogs, therefore, we put our focus on public education, we’ve been to difference schools, public and private institutes and also organizations of visually impaired people to share with them HKSEDS services. We hope that Hong Kong public can get to know more and accept Seeing Eye Dogs in our community. Seeing Eye Dogs not only able to support visually impaired people to be more independent and walk with confidence, they also become a soul mate of visually impaired people. I will strive my best to train more talents in training Seeing Eye Dogs and carry out local breeding program. I hope that the services of Seeing Eye Dog can continue to be developed in Hong Kong and more visually people can be benefited.
About This Cause
本中心於2012年1月11日成立，並於同年註冊成為香港政府認可的慈善機構。專門提供導盲犬的培育和訓練，以及將培訓成功的犬隻免費提供予有需要而且合適的視障人士使用；並會進行配對訓練及提供日後的跟進服務，以支援視障人士；同時，推廣保護導盲犬及防止配對後被遺棄或虐待的機會。 本中心將培訓本地導盲犬訓練員和導師，以延續此項服務，希望能薪火相傳，最終使這項服務本地化。本中心希望藉着推廣導盲犬，可以增進社會互助精神及愛護動物之風氣，促進港人對弱勢社群的重視及瞭解身心障礙者的需求。 HKSEDS was established on January 11, 2012 as a registered non-profit organization in Hong Kong. Our main focus is breeding and training Seeing Eye Dog in Hong Kong and provide the well-trained Seeing Eye Dog to suitable visually impaired people for free. We provide match training and follow up services to support visually impaired people. We also promote Seeing Eye Dog protection and prevent abandonment and mistreatment of the dogs after match. To localize and sustain Seeing Eye Dog Services in Hong Kong for visually impaired people, HKSEDS focus on training local trainers to make this professions rooted in Hong Kong. Through our services, we hope to enhance the atmosphere of social caring, and to nurture the concept of animal protection. Additionally, we would like to empower Hong Kong people to pay more attention to socially vulnerable groups and understand the needs of the physically or mentally impaired communities.
