Mission Statement

The Children’s Cancer Foundation was estahlished in 1989 and is the only charity in Hong Kong providing holistic psychosocial services to young patients and their families in the seven major public hospitals in Hong Kong. Its mission are to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families in caring for their physical, psychological and social well-being, to help doctors improve the survival rate of children with cancer and to assist major public hospitals in Hong Kong updated equipment and services in paediatric oncology.

About This Cause

The Children's Cancer Foundation's (CCF) main objectives are to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families in caring for their physical, psychological and social well-being, to help doctors improve the survival rate of children with cancer and to assist major public hospitals in Hong Kong updated equipment and services in paediatric oncology. CCF provides professional services for patients and their families in the seven major public hospitals, namely, Prince of Wales, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, Tuen Mun, United Christian and Hong Kong Eye Hospital. Theses include family counselling, clinical psychology, child life (previously named hospital play), palliative and home care, long-term follow-up, respite care, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, half-way homes as well as financial, social and educational support. The Family Service Centre and the Community Service and Rehabilitation Centre of the Foundation also provide multi-facet services for the young patients or survivors in the community. CCF also helps hospitals purchase medical equipment, provides funding for expensive new drugs, upgrades facilities in wards and supports reseach and medical staff training. Receiving no subvention from the government and no funding from other funding institutes such as The Hong Kong Jockey Club or the Community Chest, CCF solely relies on the generosity of private individuals, companies or organisations who wish to support its work.
