Mission Statement
Our mission is: Every child has a right to belong to a family and grows up with love, respect and security. We build families for children in need, we help them shape their own futures, and we share in the development of their communities. Every child needs someone who stands by them and believes in them, no matter what. SOS Children’s Villages is here for those children who are growing up without the care and support they need. Our quality care puts their individual needs and best interests first and foremost, and provides a nurturing and stable environment in a foster family. With strong and healthy relationships, each child and young person can grow up with the trust and sense of belonging that is essential for them to become their strongest selves.
About This Cause

(Hermann Gmeiner - founder of SOS Children’s Villages International Organization) SOS Children’s Villages Hungary is the leading NGO provider in the field of alternative care and preventive child protection services in Hungary since 1983. According to organization vision and mission: “Every child belongs to a family and grows up with love, respect and security. We build families for children in need, we help them shape their own futures, and we share in the development of their communities.” We care for hundreds of children all over Hungary and we operate Children’s Villages in Kecskemét, Orosháza and their 60 km surroundings. We running Youth facilities in Szeged, Szombathely, Kecskemét ; moreover, two of our Children’s Temporary Homes („KUCKÓ1” and „KUCKÓ2”) help the families in crisis in Kecskemét. We raise awareness about children in alternative care and implement projects to improve quality of care and to provide better outcomes to children in need. In our work everything done is based on the best interest of the child. Focus is on the care, health, education and general development of each individual child. We have 37 years' experience in the country, we have good relationship with authorities, local councils and other NGO-s working in the field of human and children’s rights. The organization is the member of the umbrella organization, SOS Children Villages association working in 136 countries supporting children without parental care and families at risk. What we are really proud of: • We have raised more than 1500 children • We have helped 650 disadvantaged families with our family strengthening programs • We have prepared hundreds of young people for independent life through our professional programs • Children’s fate can be changed!
